Mylar Cord (1.6mm) 

Mylar cord is a cornerstone of many freshwater and saltwater patterns. Designed to be highly vibrant, the core is stripped and ready to use, and is available as a micro size that is perfect for many saltwater, salmon and trout fly bodies and tails. At just 1.6mm diameter, it's available in stunning colours that the fish will find irresistible.

It's extremely hardy too, so won't disintegrate or unwrap when the ends split. Wrap around the hook, or pull over the hook shank, leaving the end strands split apart, to look like a tail. You could you use a few strands of marabou on the hook shank then pull it over as a body to produce great effects on flies like sand eels.
